Adobe Flash Player 11 Video Playback issue

After installing Flash Player 11 – we noticed that audio with-in the FLV video was not playing smoothly.

Here are following solutions

Solution 1

  1. If learner has on his machine RealPlayer application installed , then upgrade it to the latest version.
    solution1  did not work for me

 Solution 2 : if updating the RealPlayer does not solve the issue then

  1. Uninstall the Flash Player 11 and
  2. Install the Flash Player 10.3 version.
    solution2 worked for me

Solution 3:

  1. Install the latest Flash Player (11.3.300.271) released by Adobe.
    solution3 worked for me

1. Keyboard input in fullscreen mode

Flash 8 comboBox dropdown issue

While working with an interactivity which consisted of Flash 8 comboBox component – I am across an unusual problem. While the stand-alone SWF file worked fine – but when this SWF was externally loaded into another SWF file – the comboBox dropdown menu did not show-up when the comboBox down arrow button was clicked.

The solution to fix this problem is to set _lockroot = true on the frame where the comboBox has been placed.

Fullscreen Mode in AS2

To enable fullscreen mode using AS2 for a SWF file embedded within HTML page, add the parameter allowFullScreen in the object and embed tags in the HTML page and set its value to true.

param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"

1. This only works for SWF files published for Flash Player 9 and above
2. Full-screen mode does not work if wmode is set to opaque or transparent
3. When in full-screen mode, all keyboard input is disabled except for the keyboard shortcuts which exists the full-screen mode.

add a button with the following code which will toggle the browser window between Fullscreen and Normal mode when clicked

if(Stage.displayState == "normal")
Stage.displayState = "fullscreen"
Stage.displayState = "normal"

Disable mouse click events in Adobe Captivate from Flash 8

A friend of mine and myself were looking for a way to disable captivate mouse click events from flash, after hours of RnD on it found a very simple workaround to disable/enable mouse click events of Captivate from Flash8. Below are the steps.

1. Create following objects in Flash
– a movieclip having instance name cpContainer_mc
– two buttons having instance name disableListener_btn and enableListener_btn

2. Place your captivate file on the same path and name it as cp.swf

3. On the first frame of Flash paste this code

// prototype to disable listeners
MovieClip.prototype.disableListeners = function ()
// store old listeners
if(this.onMouseUp != null)
this.$_onMouseUp = this.onMouseUp;
// clear listeners array
this.onMouseUp = null;
// prototype to enable listeners
MovieClip.prototype.enableListeners = function ()
// set listeners back to previous state
if(this.onMouseUp == null)
this.onMouseUp = this.$_onMouseUp;
// code for the buttons
disableListener_btn.onRelease = function()
for(var i in cpContainer_mc)
if(typeof(cpContainer_mc[i]) == "movieclip" )

4. Compile and run the Flash file – click the buttons to enable/disable the Captivate mouse click events.

Flash error code 148:3

In Flash 148:3 code error appears when – the licensing for the product has stopped working and prevents the application from running.

MoleHill – 3D APIs for Adobe Flash Player

Adobe announced the long-awaited public release of the Molehill API that’s able to use the hardware resources to render 3D objects on its Flash player. The existing Flash-based 3D engines available utilize the CPU and memory cycles of the computer, something that limited the total number vertices that can be shown inside the Flash player. With the Molehill API, 3D Flash engines like Alternativa3D, Flare3D, Away3D, Sophie3D, Yogurt3D, and others will be able to generate more realistic and more robust 3D graphics.
